The Nook is the ereader that uses e-Ink technology and now comes in 2 different versions:

  • first edition: features a color navigational bar toward the bottom of the device, rectangular in shape
  • second edition: the entire reading screen is also a touchscreen, more square in shape

They are both black and white ereaders, which means the eInk used allows you read ebooks just like a book.  With color screens, you can see them very well in bright sunlight as the screen will wash out (problem with the NookCOLOR).  However, with e-Ink technology of the Nook, it is just like reading a book and won’t cause any eye strain.  The most popular ereaders on the market today are those that use e-Ink technology for this very reason.
